I know I have seen posts about this before but have any of you all taken your PA children to baseball games. I was thinking of trying to get dh tickets to the diamondbacks this summer but dont know if I want to try to take the kids.

We have taken my son (age 9) to several Oriole games. One in which his granfather and uncle proceeded to eat peanuts right in front of him! Grrrhhhhhh! Anyway, he has been fine each time. He is not airbourne allergic, though. If he were I wouldn'r risk taking him.

It is funny but we took our PA daughter to a major league baseball game today. She is not airborne allergic and we washed our clothes and bathed right away after we came home and of course brought our own snacks but we had a nice time.

I took my daughter to a red sox game, its an open air stadium and she had horrible reactions, we had to leave. there were peanuts and peanut shells everywhere. She does have airborne reactions. I'm sure that peanuts were ground into everything, the seats, arm rests, countertops, that park is so old and I'm betting they don't wipe down the seats and such very often.

We (well, mainly DH) take our son (now 7 1/2) to the Orioles games frequently. In fact, DS has been an Junior Orioles Dugout Club Member for 5 years now. He attends about 10 Orioles games each year...and about 10 Bowie Baysox games each year. These tickets are just section tickets, not assigned seats. Rarely, do we have tickets for assigned seats because it's more difficult to move.

Both stadiums are open air and yes, DS is airborn and contact allergic to peanuts. DH wipes down the seats, speaks to those who are seated near and begin eating peanuts, etc. Most people put the peanuts away. If not, either DH finds other seats or the Usher relocates DH and DS to better seats. DH always tries to sit in the same section with the same usher each time.

When DS comes home, he immediately undresses and washes up (a bath if it's not too late). If the wind is blowing strongly, DH makes sure they are upwind. Only one incident in 5 years--wind was blowing, eyes became itchy, DS forgot and touched the rail, DH wiped DS down, took him out of the stadium faster than ever (game was over)--he was fine once he got cleaned up.

We bring our own food to the Orioles games. I contact the Bowie Baysox each year and get permission to bring in food for my son only to their games. The Baysox are more restrictive.

We'll have a new challenge next month. We're going to a Nationals game with assigned seats. (Our Cub Scout Pack is providing the Color Guard for the game and DS probably will be one of the Color Guards.) Just as soon as I know where our tickets will be, I'll contact the Nationals and see what their policies are re the food.

Lalow, I called the Diamondbacks a few years ago about peanut allergies. Their policy may have changed since then, but I was told that they do not have any peanut-free seating area. However, they would allow a PA person to sit in the handicapped seating. I don't know if you've ever been to BOB, but the handicapped seating is a separate row, that runs all the way around the park. It is at the top of the lower level. Basically, it means that there would be a little more space between you and others. I never tried this because I never went to another game with DS before moving across the country.

Thanks for the info. We used to live in Arizona and will be going back for a week this summer. We have been to BOB several times but it back when we didnt have kids or they were very young and we left them home. I have actually sat in the handicapped seating before with a friend.. that might be an option. I do not know if ds is contact or airborne allergic. He really hasnt been around peanuts very much at all and it isnt really something one wants to test.
