Dear Jean, Thank you for taking the time to send an e-mail to Barbara's Bakery about cereals which your son can eat. Shredded Spoonfuls does not contain peanuts or other nuts. Nuts are produced in another building at the same processing facility, but the chance of cross contamination is virtually non-existent. He also may want to try our Original Puffins, and Shredded Oats cereals as they also do not contain nuts and nuts are produced in another building at the same processing facility so cross contamination is virtually non-existent. There may be many other cereals your son can eat, these are just ones from the top of my head. Please check out our website at www.barbarasbakery.com and click on Product Lines and Our Products to search for other cereals. If you would like for me to provide additional information about other cereals, please send me another e-mail with the products you are interested in purchasing. We hope you continue to enjoy Barbara's products in good health! Regards, Susan Customer Relations Administrator Barbara's Bakery, Inc. I was told in the past that there was a chance of cross-contamination. That they did not use any dedicated lines. I wonder when this changed? That would be great if there are now more cereals and another company gets it.

This was the reply I got this week when I emailed them. Peanut-free facilities are always a good bet on my list, though they still won't *guarantee* peanut-free products. I've had the Wheatines lately with no trouble, and will try some of the cereals soon.

I relied on the Barbara's Puffins Originals box and on this post yesterday in reluctantly allowing my severely peanut allergic son to eat this cereal. He had an allergic reaction and I wrote the company to try and figure out what happened. The company's response would disagree with the previous post and my son's reaction is certain confirmation that people with peanut allergies SHOULD NOT eat ANY barbara's cereals. My son is not allergic to any other nuts, except for peanuts, and given his reaction, I question the "peanut free facility." Please read what the company said this morning:
Thank you for contacting us about our Original Puffins Cereal and whether they are made on shared equipment with peanuts or eggs.
Our Original Puffins are made in a peanut and egg free facility. The product is run on shared equipment with tree nuts however.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns. We hope you and your family will continue to enjoy our products in excellent health!

ahhhh, I wonder if the tree nuts were contaminated therefore contaminated the original puffins?! Good Grief - the worry never ends for us!
