anyone know a safe couscous brand? CDN

Hi all,

***Canadian food question*** I love couscous, but have been unable to find a safe brand. I spoke with CLIC and apparently the couscous in the 500g box is safe but not the couscous in the 907g (2lb) bags. Unfortunately, the closest store that distributes the boxes is a 45 minute drive away. Anybody know of something safe?

Thanks in advance,

Jen

Manischewitz makes a couscous and a rice pilaf mix whihc they told me were peanut/nut-safe. We've used them both.

Have you tried Mr. Goudas?

I'll try to remember when I go out to the grocery store tomorrow to check. We *may* have Mr. Goudas in the town that I live in, unfortunately what we don't have of their line is the boxed bulghar wheat. When I was in Toronto in March month I forgot to buy some to bring home.

I'll try to remember to check, but you may want to look at Mr. Goudas' line.

Reraising for Cindy

On Jun 22, 2004

We have one half aisle here at my local A&P Ultraplus with what is considered health or vegetarian food. It's the only place I've been able to find bulghar wheat (couldn't even find it in the health food store).

Anyway, I did check yesterday when I was in there and the only brand they had was Casbah and NONE of their products were PA safe.

Since A&P is the only store that I've been able to find bulghar wheat in, I'm wondering if it would be the only one where I would find couscous as well, so, in my town, no "safe" couscous boxed.

e-mom, thank-you for re-raising.
