Ok, aside from PA, I have a real problem with the absolute junk that is served as a snack. My best friend's dd started Kindergarten this year and they give a snack right before going home. This is usually Oreos,Little Debbie's,fruit roll-ups, etc...
To do this the parents generally spend $7-8 a month to bring snack for the class.
Now we do have treats at home, we do eat "junk food", but do kids really need it everyday in school?
My thought is that the money would be better brought in as "snack money" the way it was when I was in Elementary school, and have the school provide a fresh fruit tray and crackers or something ( this is really not a selfish idea, ds could not eat their crackers anyways he is soy allergic also). In my day snack was milk and graham crackers and cost 65 cents a week, it was provided bu the school.
I thought I had read on here of schools not allowing soda, chips,candy,etc... but I also think that this was maybe not in the US. I will work on searching the net some more, but thought maybe if someone already had it in a school handbook or something I could mail you a SASE or something.
