I'm looking for a source for packaged pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds that are safe. My daughter is peanut/treenut allergic but has no issues with seeds. We buy the No Nuts trail mix from Enjoy Life, but I would really like straight seeds with none of the other stuff.
Thanks for your help.
Hi you will want to contact them yourself and make sure nothing has changed but David's might be ok depending on what you are avoiding.
OH thats a hard one.
I FINALLY found some pumpkin seeds from Drury - Libby -- BUT -- their facility is chock full of pnt, tn. The lady was nice and sold me a bulk shipment that came direct from China (which, is where most come from) in plastic wrap. It was never opened in their plant. They checked with China and there was no contact with nuts. If you can believe China.
HayRiver has pumpkin seed oil (made in the USA) but no pumpkin seeds for sale.
Omega Naturals has pumpkin seed butter but no seeds.
Eden had roasted pumpkin seeds. They have only almonds in their facility. But in a month pistachios are arriving.
Trader Joes has Sunflower seeds with no cross-contam warning. I assume they are safe but have never checked. Their pumpkin seeds have a croos-contam. warning.
David's sunflower seeds are supposed to be okay. But they only have salty snacks in the shell.
Sunbutter sells seeds roasted.
GOOD LUCK and if you find a good clean source, let us all know
Thanks for the input.
I was doing another search online and came across two different sites offering peanut free packaged sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. I'm not sure if they are nut free as well so I need to make some calls. Both are salted and roasted. I was hoping for raw but I'll take what I can get.
The makers are Spitz Sunflowers and Dakota Gourmet/Kettle Valley. I'll let you know what I find out.
The company for the seeds from China is Durey-libby Seacaucus, NJ. They are raw.
David's does sell roasted, salted sunflower seeds out of the shell, as well. I'm able to get them at our local Food Lion. David's also sells pumpkin seeds, but they are in fact very salty.
I use David (all varieties) and Frito Lay Sunflower Seeds (the little 2 for 99 cent bags are pn/tn free according to my source).
Sungold (the sunbutter people) sell sunflower seeds too.
We have ordered the sunflower seeds from the Sunbutter company. You used to be able to get them in small sealed packages.
I used to buy sunflower seeds from the SunButter people ( http://www.sunbutter.com ), but I haven't seen them listed on their site in a long time. Many months ago I emailed them to see if the seeds were still available, but I never got a response.

We have eaten Minnesota Twins Giant Sunflower Seeds. The label says Peanut Free Facility (as does the Diamond Almond brand of almonds we eat) We're in Minnesota. I tried to look up a website, but haven't found one yet. Our doctor recommended any sunflower seed from North Dakota. Don't know how you'd find that but thought I'd mention it.
