I have an allergist, but I'd prefer one who specializes in food allergies.
Any good food allergy doctors in New York city?

If you are in NYC, why not try Hugh Sampson, Scott Sicherer, or any of the other docs in their practice at Mt. Sinai? You'll probably have to wait for months for Drs. Sampson or Sicherer, but my friends have used some of the other MD's in that practice and they have been very happy with them.

Thanks! I don't mind waiting a few months, so I'll check into them.
Actually, looks like they are pediatric doctors and I'm looking for myself. I think it will be worth it to contact them for a recommendation for an adult doctor though.

Dr. Sampson (and the rest of the practice) are pediatric docs however I believe they will see adults with food allergy as well.
Dr. Samspon used to my doc and he's absolutely WONDERFUL!!! It's well worth the wait.
I know it is not NYC, but I have an allergist in Teaneck, NJ who is wonderful. I don't know if you have a car since you live in the city, but Teaneck isn't that far from the GWB and there are bus stops all over by his office. He is a wonderful doctor, deals mostly with children, but I do see adults there for allergy shots and appointments. He addresses environmental & food allergies and asthma.

Keep in mind that most allergists specializing in food allergies are specializing in children. As an adult with food allergies, you may not be treated well - or even seen - by those folks (I've been accused of "faking" by the best kid-specialists in NYC & Boston because adults don't fit the same paradigms). I found no help at all in NYC but I found a God-send in the burbs. I relocated to Boston in 2004 and still haven't found a good one up here yet.
