Another school death-walnut allergy

p".......FAAN is saddened to report two recent fatalities from food-allergic reactions. Both reactions, which occurred within 10 days of each other, took place in the school setting. May 9, a 16-year-old walnut allergic boy, Billy, died after eating something in a cooking class that contained walnuts. He was initially given asthma medications; it is unclear how much time had elapsed before the ambulance was called and epinephrine was administered. /p
pLast week, May 18, a 9-year-old boy, Nathan, known to be allergic to peanuts died after eating a peanut butter cookie on a school field trip. It is reported that he vomited a short time after eating the cookie. There appears to have been a significant delay before he was taken to medical assistance and epinephrine was administered......"/p
