Hi, Just wondering if anyone would have some input on this question that came to mind as I read another thread.
Both of my PA dd's had the SPT to diagnose their allergies. Both girls rubbed and scratched the areas (mixing peanut, treenut and other drops) and so the allergist added more of the peanut drops to the area. Do you think that this could have exaggerated the results? My youngest dd is 2+ to peanuts and my oldest, who we had no idea was allergic (no sign of a reaction in her 5 years) is 3+. Also does everyone get a RAST done as well? Our allergist said there was no need.

Thanks, Gilli

Giving more Peanut onto the SPT? Cause a bigger wheal? Perhaps.
Allergic allergic, though...
Whether its a small bump, or a BIG bump, you avoid.
We do RAST, ESPECIALLY for peanut, and do NOT SPT peanut.
Serious reaction COULD occur, has been documented, I believe...
RAST shows +'s for us. We're typical IgE folk, though
