I just visited their website, and they have a registration form so that people can sign up to receive info about allergy recalls, etc.

They seem to want a lot of personal info, though.

Has anyone here registered with them? Are you glad you did, or do you wish you hadn't? Are they a legitimate group? Also, do you know if this is only for Canadians, or if Americans can register?

Yes, I'm registered and I think it's a great place for support. The newsletter alone is worth the money to register, it is so informative. The founder is Dr. Jane Salter, whose daughter has a peanut allergy. I have received personal e-mails from Dr. Salter in response to my general questions about PA, so I was very impressed with that.
It is a well-respected site with many allergists and medical professionals available for consult (within the organization - not for general public consult) and I would recommend a membership. I don't know if Americans would find it as helpful as Canadians, but I know that Canadians register with FAAN, which is obviously American-based, so why not? I know several Cdn. members of PA.Com belong to this group and the ones I know have only good things to say about it.

Okay, next question ... I hadn't noticed on their website that they charge to register. How much do they charge??

The fee is $35 Canadian per year, which is about $25 or less American. I would contact them via e-mail to ask whether it would be worthwhile registering as an American. Some of the stuff is very Canadian specific, but other stuff is general and VERY informative and well-researched. I have quoted a lot of their stuff here at PA.Com (giving them credit, of course). The newsletter is at least a dozen pages long, and last month there was a review for the new book "The Peanut Allery Answer Book". Get in touch with them and they should be able to help you decide if it's worthwhile to join if you're out of the country.
For a Canadian though, I find it outstanding.

I'll second what Cindy and Carolyn said. We live in Canada, have been members for several years and it is worth every penny. Husband and daughter are both registered.

marina_twinmom,
I looked in on their web-site and didn't feel comfortable with all the info they wanted on-line to register so I printed off a form, filled it in and mailed it. This was 4 months ago and now reading your posts I realize there is a fee to register? That is probably why I haven't heard from them. Oh well, I must of missed that part.

Simply re-raising to compliment a thread Danielle currently has running.
smack, I just saw your post. To register, like you did, I don't think you have to pay anything (I didn't). To become a member of Anaphylaxis Canada, yes, you do have to pay a yearly membership fee which people did mention in their posts.
I had registered Jesse quite some time ago with the then Anaphylaxis Foundation. I then re-registered him with Anaphylaxis Canada (same thing? ) again just this past year.
I do get e-mail alerts and up-dates from them simply because I registered Jesse without paying the membership fee. What I don't get, well members would have to tell you, but I certainly don't get a monthly newsletter or anything.
But your child should still be *counted* in their registry regardless of whether you paid for a membership to Anaphylaxis Canada or not.
Hope this helps.

smack, sorry, you may want to check though. I have had to contact Anaphylaxis Canada twice during the past year due to school things and for some reason they know who I am. I am not sure if that is a "good thing" or a "bad thing" ("are you a good witch or a bad witch" - I can hear Glinda's voice right now ) , but they do know my name.
However, I still think once you register in the registry you'll get the e-mails regardless. You just don't get the other benefits of being a member of Anaphylaxis Canada.
