pF.Y.I. There is an article in this months (April) American Baby magazine about food allergies. It talks about ways to avoid them which doesn't help for our children that already have them but is useful for those planning to have others. It did make me feel guilty b/c is said that by avoiding foods that can be highly allergic such as peanuts, milk, eggs, etc. while you are pregnant and nursing can help reduce the chances. I ate a ton of peanut butter things while I was nursing until I found out she was allergic at 8 months. I will not do that with my next baby. /p
pI have many food allergies and I wish the doctors would have warned me of this. They seem to be ignorant to the fact that babies can get it through the breast milk. They all told me that it was unlikly but I know that is not true. As soon as I stopped eating things that contained peanuts her eczema on her face went away. Sorry to ramble it just frustrates me that all of my doctors have been so passive about the whole thing./p
