Hi all-

I fly American all the time, and have rarely had problems domestic. Where I have had problems with my daughter (peanut & tree nut allergy) is on international. They would never provide ingredient lists for the meals. After looking around on the website, I noticed they have kosher and vegetarian meals. So, I sent a letter (I've written many times with the same standard reply) simply asking about the logic of them making the effort to cater to people's lifestyle choices, versus things people have no control over. I acknowledged that they cant guarantee a nut free flight (they cant control other passengers) but they could at least give parents options to make flying a little easier. I suggested a nut-free meal. I was surprised that I didnt get the standard reply (see below). I'll keep you posted if I hear more.

Dear Dr. Carroll:

We very much appreciate the time you took to send us your suggestion about offering a
nut-free special meal on our flights. Your idea certainly has merit and it clearly
reflects the thought that went into it.

It is always helpful for us to consider our products and services from our customers'
perspective. Accordingly, we have forwarded a copy of your email to the
Managing Director of Food and Beverage Service for an internal review. We try to be
responsive to our customers and carefully analyze information based upon their
reactions. In this way we can identify those service elements that are most appealing
as well as improve those that produce a negative response.

Our aim is to suit the needs and wishes of the majority of our customers. As we
determine the appropriate action in this regard, your preferences will be considered.
Thank you for giving us the benefit of your observations.
