This was e mailed to us after a conversation with them on the phone. They only wanted us to inform you with the info below at this time.
Here is what they asked us to pass on.

1. A nonprofit consumer group is interested in petitioning the FDA to require
better labeling of allergens -- but they need your help. If you or someone you
know has suffered an allergic reaction from eating a nonlabeled food that you
later discovered was actually manufactured on the same peanut-contaminated
equipment, please submit your story along with your name and phone number for
possible follow-up.
2. Let Congress hear your voice. Currently, there is an amendment before the
House in the Health and Environment Subcommittee. This amendment would direct
FDA to require labeling of the eight major allergens whenever they are present
in a food -- including when a food is manufactured on shared equipment. Please
write to your representative to support this amendment. This is particularly
important for those who reside in the 9th District of Florida (Rep. Michael
Bilirakis) or the 13th District of Ohio (Rep. Sherrod Brown) as those
representatives are key members of the Subcommittee.
Letters are generally the most effective means of communicating with Congress.
The addresses for Bilirakis and Brown are:
Rep. Sherrod Brown
328 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-3513
Rep. Michael Bilirakis
2369 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-0909
Thanks for your help!

I don't want to use the name of our group in case,
for one reason or another, we are unable to file the petition -- or the
industry catches wind of what we're up to.

I included this paragraph above so you will realize that we often have to be very cautious of how things are done, this is to try to get these things off the ground, so they will be able to be done. Sadly, There is lots of organized opposition to many of the things we require to stay safe. Many in our community do not realize this, so I try to inform as much as we can to these obstacles. This text in the e mail to us shows that those who sent it, realize the power those who work against us have.
I will be sure the organization knows about this thread and will request they stay in close contact with their progress. I will ask them to post what they can to keep us informed and to be sure they know that we as a community will be off assistance if we can.
Again, this is another example of why your financial support to PeanutAllergy.Com is so important. We need to have the resources to be able to work on this and so many other important projects and issues.
If you have not yet joined as a member and sent a donation please do so as soon as possible. Do not delay, your help is needed NOW! Do not let a very important project or issue come and go without the attention it needs. We can only do this together, this is one of the reasons why this site was created. Don't sit back and hope others will contribute or work on something that is important to you and the rest of us. Do what needs to be done. Make a difference with us.
It will not happen if we are not funded or if we all try to do it on our own. We need to work together as a community.
I will include the address etc. for you to send your check.
I thank you in advance for allowing us to be able to work full time to make a difference in our world and make it a safer place for us.
