Basically I got a 504 for my child earlier this year. It is very short and limited, and what's in it is not being enforced. I want to add something to it but the vp says it's a "no go". All it is is notifying me in advance when any food is brought in by teachers or administration so my child can have a treat also. I've read other posts and notification of food being brought in in advance seems pretty common. On top of it all neither the vp or p have shown any ability to enforce the 504 and I've spoke with them too many times to count about issues covered in the 504.
What do you have to do to add something in the 504 if the vp says "no"?

Technically, they can't say "no" without having a meeting of the 504 team. One person can't decide whether or not to amend the 504.
If you want to amend it, you will have to request (in writing) a meeting to review the 504 plan--this is your right, I believe. Of course, having a meeting is no guarantee that they will agree, but at least they will have to formally deny your request which will create a paper trail for your eventual OCR complaint.
You should also document all the times that the current 504 has been violated.
You may need to involve your district's 504 coordinator or OCR to get compliance.

Good luck!
