This is the 1st time I am posting to this board. I am the mother of a 5 year old with a PA. Our doctor has never done any sort of testing for allergies. She has had a couple of reactions. The last one (any by far the most severe) was after eating 1 small bite of a cookie offered to her by a good friend she developed redness around her mouth, we gave her benedryl immediatly and went up to the hospital. They monitored her and gave her more benedryl and sent us home. About 1/2 hour later she started throwing up and complaining of being itchy by this time she was covered in hives. We went back to the hospital. They took her temp and it was 103.50 so the ER doctor wasn't sure about it being an allergy. He said allergic reactions do not cause fevers. After numerous tests (no allergy testing) they sent us home and diagonosed peanut allergy. Although faded the hives remained for 2 days. I was wondering if anyone has had experiences with fever? Also, what are your thoughts on allergy testing?
