We share a similar story. DS is a Class 3 for peanuts, is not allergic to walnuts or almonds and is a little allergic to pecans but does not react to them--and can occasionally have them if we shell them (there are one or two reputable "peanut free" pecan dealers we buy from).
However, by and large, DS stays away from all nuts. We do this to avoid cross contamination, which is rampant. And we don't want him to get more allergic to pecans. Eating pecans are pretty much an occasional thing for DS, but now that he's become a vegetarian, I'll sometimes give him a handful of the safe ones. He averages pecans about 5-6 times per year I'd say.
He likes pecans more than walnuts and still hasn't ever tried almonds. Again--he's not allergic to walnuts or almonds. We just had him tested for almonds this summer, and we haven't bought any to shell this winter, so he's not had any yet. Don't know if he likes them. Still, it's not something he'll have often, as we'll have to shell them. And I do worry about contamination of the shells even then.
It's just better to be safe than sorry.

I s'pose it was a RAST test.
They drew blood. And called in a wk, with results?
Class goes from 0-6.
IgE ranges from <.35 to >100
You can be allergic to 'just' peanuts or any combo of anything. No rhyme/reason.
The company here 'so' gets it.

I had RAST IgE done about 1.5 months ago now...I am a class V for peanuts, class III for almonds, cashews, pistachios, and borderline Class 0/I for pecans and walnuts. Interestingly, I blew a Class II for sesame, peas and a Class III for avocado. Sunflower was a class 0
My allergist and I had a conversation about what the classes mean and what it means for reactions. I am smell and contact sensitive for peanuts, and have had anaphy. reactions in the past. So, guesses are my Class V reaction is anaphylactic. I carry epi's. For the tree nuts, I'm glad my numbers are lower. We gauged my "hypothetical reaction" for tree nuts based off my reaction to avocado...which is just a super bad stomache ache. Interestingly, I eat sesame and peas all the time with no reaction. So, me and my allergist determined that a Class II for me really isn't anything, but to avoid nonetheless. Class III isn't too severe for me, but I'm not about to go eating tree nuts. I still avoid them and treat them like peanuts (habits of a lifetime)...naybe I'll get brave and do a (safe pn free) pecan and walnut ingestion test at the allergist office someday.
So --- if you are reall curious about what the RAST means, talk to your allergist. Or better yet, go find an allergist who deals mostly with food allergies to help you figure it all out.

Hi...
my daughter tested negative to all other nuts as well...However, her peanut allergy was so severe, I try to keep her away from all nuts. The main reason is because of cross contamination during processing. Another reason is that I have read that the chances of becoming allergic to other nuts is likely after developing an allergy to peanuts.

Hi, I missed your last post so not sure on your exact situation but next spring I plan to have my son tested for all Tree nuts as well as seseame. I have read that the protein in seseame is simliar to the protein in peanut so I have been avoiding them. So far our allergist has only tested for a few treenuts his stance is why test them all with the issues of cross contamination we suggest if you are allergic to one to avoid all. I am going to argue that I would like to know what to expect if he comes across say a walnut in someones yard - that nut obviously isn't cross contaminated. And various other similar situations.
