We are moving next month to christiansburg, VA (outside of roanoke). Does any one have a good allergist and pediatrician in that area?

My husband is from Blacksburg (has lived there all of his life) and my in-laws are still there. We have several friends in the area so I will ask and get back to you. When visiting, my 5 year old son had an ear infection and we saw a wonderful pediatrician in Christiansburg - the office was open until 8 in the evening - very convenient. A friend of mine is a nurse in that office so I will get that for you as well...good luck!

So sorry I took so long to respond - we have been out of town for 2 weeks. Unfortunately I don't think I can be as helpful as I had hoped. The Dr's office is New River Valley Pediatrics and they are located in front of the hospital on 460. My friend who was a nurse there has moved to Germany. However I do remember being very pleased with the Dr. (a woman) and the hours were very convenient. I would ask them to refer you to an allergist - you may have to go to Roanoke for that.
Sorry I wasn't more help but hopefully that will get you started. It is a beautiful area and I'm sure you will love it.

Hi,
I don't know if you found an allergist, but I live at Smith Mountain Lake, about a half hour from Roanoke. My DD sees Dr. Gates Hoover who is with Lewis Gale. I just found out about her allergies last week, but he was excellent and has a young son who outgrew both egg and peanut allergies so he can empathize.
Also, I met another girl on this board who lives in Fincastle (also near Roanoke). Her 19 month old son is allergic to eggs, tree nuts, and peanuts. Her son sees the other doctor in practice with Dr. Hoover. We have been talking about starting a support group for our area. You can e-mail me at shannon@gaudio.net if you are interested.
