Other than that, I don't think it is biologically possible, but I am not sure.

Pure water - I think it would be impossible to be allergic to it. There isn't any protein to be allergic to, right?

The doctor once thought that my son was reacting to cold water. He had all-over body hives (I mean ALL OVER). It only happened once - he had been out canoeing on the lake and the kids all ended up pretty wet. What we finally figured out caused it was the life jackets were stored in an old wooden shed and although nobody noticed it his must have been moldy.
However, referring to your original post, the instructor, who was about to take these kids canoeing/camping up in Algonquin park insisted my son see a doctor because he'd once had a young teen react so badly to cold water he feared it would become anaphylactic. My doctor also (at first) suspected the cold water.

Thank you all for your posts,I am hoping to get more responses, please.
Let me rephrase the question.
Have you ever heard of anyone being allergic to drinking plain bottled water?
Thanks

Hi Synthia,
I don't think it's crazy at all. Actually this is really strange, but I don't feel well after drinking Poland Spring Water that is not from Poland SPring but rather Hollis Spring. So I don't by the bottles with the HO for the manufacturing spring. I think it may be because there are nut trees by the spring and the proteins don't get taken out since they are small. Hope that helps!

I was at the allergist last week and I overheard the parents of a little girl tell the Dr. that they think she is allergic to water. She gets hives when she showers.

Many years ago I saw on the "Sally" show a little girl who was allergic to water. She couldn't come into contact with it in anyway, it literally burned her. I don't remember much about it, but I do recall them talking about how she accidentally drank some when she was little, and I don't remember what they said happened. I remember them talking about this special substance she took baths, a protective suit to wear outdoors, etc. This was about 6 or 7 years ago I saw this show. I don't know how much of it was fact.

Water urticaria, or aquagenic urticaria, is a rare condition in which hives develop within 1 to 15 minutes after contact with water. The hives last for 10 to 120 minutes and do not seem to be caused by histamine release like the other physical hives.

Have you considered the bottle? Platics/fumes form them? Some contaminant since you specified a particular bottled water? becca
