Hi! My name is Colleen, my 2 year old daughter was diagnosed today with a peanut allergy. I have never dealt with this type of allergy before so I welcome all advice. I have to go pick up my epi-pens tomorrow.

Sorry for the diagnosis. It is managable but can be over whelming at times... I ave a DS that is 7 with PA.

My advice is get the book :"peanut allergy answer book" it is an read and explains a lot. also FAAN is a great website with lots of info.

The biggest thing is to read labels. on everything. even thing that you would n't think could have peanuts. I chose to not have ANY peanuts or peanut products in my house. NOt everyone does that. I stay away from baked goods especially home made ones. Bakery's are generally not safe.. However, I am lucky I have two near my house that are peanut free.

Anyway lots to learn...

good luck! Therese

Hi, our 2yr old dd was also diagnosed this week with peanut allergies...along with wheat and egg allergies.

Glad to know we're not alone, huh?

I am amazed at how many PA are out there. I am glad to see how much information there is as well.

Sorry to hear about her other allergies as well.

I have been doing so much research and such this week, that I have gotten very confused. I finally called our ped. to see if they could give us a referral to a nutritionist to get us someplace to start.

I never dreamed my dd would have food allergies. When I first talked to the ped. about testing her because of her eczema, I fully expected environmental allergies..like I have as well as my husband.

I was hoping her reactions were all in my head. I was really afraid to find out she was allergic to peanuts. Thankfully she doesn't seem to have any other food allergies.

Hi, My name is Sharon and we just found out four days ago that our 16 month old daughter has PA. It has been so overwhelming. I have choosen to make our home nut free. We have five children adn I am scared that someone would leave something out and she would get into it. I absolutaly love this site. it is nice to know that i am not alone and that there are ppl who are willing to give advice to a total stranger. Thanks! I am not sure that it has sunk in all yet. I seem to be going in 6 different directions getting the house cleaned out and learning the epi-pens (that I bought the next day after she was diagnosed). I worry about going out of the house and having something happen. I realize that we cant put her in a bubble all her life either. Any info you have or tips would be great. Thanks!
