2 thumbs up for BK

After a bad experience at McD and 2 recent good experiences at BK, I decided our family should try to switch over the BK since they seem more allergy aware and have no direct peanut or treenut products. My son was 'starving' today so I tried to stop in for fries. When I asked the manager about the oil to double check, I was told they sometimes use peanut oil. We left (my 5 year old tearing up) and I called BK using their (long distance) consumer relations number on their website. It took me all afternoon to get through and they don't take email...but jackpot! The very nice and concerned rep told me they should be using the ingredients on the website. She forwarded my msg on and the manager of the store called me an hour later! He said the person must have been uninformed. Was very concerned and said BK is strict about using exactly what they supply and list on the wall at the store and on the website. He is going to re-educate his staff. I was impressed with their thoroughness but more so his assurance that they use what BK tells them to use made me more confident...we'll be going back again and I will try to send corporate a thank you!

luvmyboys, I agree with you about BK. I'm not much of a fast food eater, but I know when I'm hungry and can't find a safe place to eat (at an airpor,t for example) there's always Burger King!

My ds had it for the first time yesterday. Dh saw the website, which does a really good job on their allergen listings, and decided to take him. He (of course!) loved it!

Wasn't there some discussion a year or two ago about how BK was testing some type of deep fried pb&j sandwich or something like that? Was that discontinued? We haven't been to a BK since I heard about that, but perhaps we should look into it again.
I've always liked the "flame broiled" taste better than McDonalds.

To be clear, we still always check on the oil. But now I feel confident I can say "Really, well the last time I called corporate headquarters they really frowned on that, so get your manager on the phone please." OK well maybe I won't be THAT confident, but it gives me some ammo rather than immediately walking out.

I am glad to hear that about B.K, but we always go to Mcdonalds because I was told it is totally safe. Have any of you had problems there?

All you need to do is go to their webpage. They serve bags of peanuts with their ice cream sundae's. So there is a great risk of residual peanuts all over the restaurant.

Last time I went to our local McD's, there was butterfinger flurry topping all over the counters. The girl at the register brushed it off with her hand and proceeded to try to take my order (which I didn't end up giving her). I never went back.

Wow, I didn't think BK was safe! So, we've been going to Wendys for the last couple of years (yum). But now that I know they ARE safe, I think I may just go get a chicken sandwhich (drooling here).

I think they decided not to do the pb&j idea. Sounded gross anyway.
