I am a 62 year old African American woman and have been suffering from an allergy to peanuts since the first time I ate peanut butter (eons ago). The reactions have taken on new presentations over the years. The most recent one is from inahaling the air if someone is eating or has eaten peanuts in close proximity to me. Minutes after my normal presentations, I go into convulsion. This is new and scary. Over the last four years, this has happpended three times. The last two happened within the last five days while I was at work - I am a middle school teacher. I have been looking on the internet to see if anyone else has had these when they have had a reaction. I have not been successful so far, but I have not looked all over this website yet. While I have an epi-pen I have never gone to an allergy specialist, but given the appearance of convulsions, I will be making an appointment as soon as I get my referral from my personal physician. While things seem to changing for me vis-a-vis my allergy, I still have my faith in God and I know that a way will be made to help myself more and continue to maintain my health.
Update: After doctor's visit, I was put on prescription strength Allegra. The doctor said I will be on it for the rest of my life. It made me sleepy when I first started taking it, but now I am okay. My body has gotten use to it. Now, if I could find a herbal that will do what Allegra does, I would prefer to take that.
