As the mother of a child with multiple life threatening food allergies (peanut, tree nut, egg, sesame, soy) as well as environmental allergies (dog, cat, dust mites, pollen)-I've become used to living a life with allergies. I myself have oral allergy syndrome to melons as well as pollen allergies.
I'm a volunteer team leader for a local Asthma Allergy Foundation of America support group and am very involved and interested in advocating for food allergies and awareness.
When my son was diagnosed in 2004, I remember feeling "lost". I founded Best Allergy Sites http://www.bestallergysites.com/ (an internet directory of allergy web sites and blogs) to help allergy sufferers find the support, web sites, companies, and products they need.
It's my small way of helping out and paying it forward.
