We just got confirmation a couple days ago that my 3 year old son has a severe allergy to peanuts. Am I being overly paranoid by not wanting to enroll him in preschool this fall? I don't trust others to keep his environment peanut free.

I feel the same and my son is

I feel the same and my son is a year younger. If you want him to go, I'd go to a couple of preschool and talk to them to see what their policy is in dealing with PA. The preschool my daughter goes to always asks for non peanu candy, but then asks for M&Ms!! So I. Don't know if I will send my son there next year. I may have to look else where.

I'd say once you meet them, if you're still not comfortable, do something a home and have lots of playdates to give him socialization. (of course you may have to host them due to his allergy.)

Good luck!!!

My son started pre-school 19

My son started pre-school 19 years ago when peanut free schools weren't available. He was 4 years old. I reviewed everything in writing with the teacher and the school director. I made sure that my son knew enough not to take food that was not provided from our home. And I volunteered at the school office to make sure I was available in case of emergency. It would have been much easier if I had the choice of a peanut free school. Good luck! Story details are at www.FoodAllergiesToGo.com.

My daughter has a severe

My daughter has a severe peanut allergy and I enrolled her at Primrose School. They are infant to private Kindergarten. Their website is primroseschools.com. They are a chain and may have one in your area. They are peanut/tree nut free. They do not allow anyone to bring in food from outside. We never had any problems. They were great and I felt very safe with my daughter there. Of course, they did keep an epi-pen for her in case of an emergency but thanks to their peanut/tree nut free policy nothing ever happened. Good luck and hope this helps!
