My son has a severe allergy to peanuts. He ate Cheetos and got hives everywhere they touched his skin. Gave Benadryl and they went away. 5 hours later he threw up. Any thoughts? Ingredients looked safe to me.

Wow I'm so sorry you had that happen. I have never heard of a reaction like that before. Has your son had allergy testing done? Maybe there is something else he is allergic to in the Cheetos. You should keep the bag and contact Frito-Lay with the lot number. There could be something in that batch that is bad. Thank you for posting this. My PA son eats Cheetos all the time so I will watch him more closely. Which flavor did your son eat? I just looked them up and there are 21 different kinds. They have a complete list including allergy info and there is nothing about peanuts. However they do list that they are Gluten,MSG,Onion, and Pig(Porcine) free. Each flavor is different however and none are listed as peanut free. I think I will stay away from these until I call Frito-Lay myself.

We have a friend that is allergic to peanuts and she also had a reaction to Cheetos. Mouth tingly and tightening of the throat. After that we quit giving them to our PA daughter. I checked everything on the Frito-Lay website and found it to be confusing. My daughter has had two reactions to their tortilla chips, it starts with an S and is a spanish name, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. So I am now avoiding all Frito-Lay products.
