Well, Carson had his wheat challange yesterday and he did great. He can offically eat wheat again. We found out he was allergic to Peanuts, Eggs, Wheat, and Corn after his reaction to peanuts at about 15 months of age (He will be 2 July 2). Three months after his skin testing we went back to see another allergist (not happy with the first) and she retested him again and also did a Rast test. He tested negative for corn (both skin and rast), negative (rast) for wheat, however he had a small hive on the skin test, and of course very allergic to peanuts (not tested due to reaction) and eggs. The doctor decided to do a wheat challage since he used to eat it before and had tested negative on the rast. He has eczema, so I think it would get worse when he ate certain foods.

As I said above we had him challanged yesterday and He did great. In total he ate 3 slices of wheat bread without the crust and loved it.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and bought him what I call treats for him. Cherrios cereal, Kix, and some Gerber fuit bars and animal crackers. Im still very carefull due to his egg and peanut allergies. Finally, I can make him some cookies and other treats using regular flour instead of oat, barley and other flours that are not so great tasting. I have alot of boxes of rice, tapioca, and other flour that I bought from Ener-G foods that I hate to through away. If anyone has a child that is allergic to wheat and would like them I would ship them to you. I need to clean up the cupboards for baby number 2 coming in 4 weeks. Let me know.

Sorry so long.

ohhhh, I'm jealous! I am so hopeful my son ( will be 2 in November )will outgrow his wheat allergy.....the consenus is that he likely will, but in the mean time, it has been the hardest of his food allegies to get around. He is also allergic to dairy, peanuts, and alot of fruits, but did outgrow his egg allergy, it seems ( we go next month for a food challenge on that one.) My Allergist is sending him for the rast tests on peanuts and dairy, but told us there was not a wheat rast test available.......I wonder if not all labs do it. We are not exactly in a medical metropolis here...... it's been a real challenge finding good dr.s in many fields since we moved here. Any way, congratulations on getting to serve cheerios at last!!! Congratulations! I am glad that you will be able to add some more choices to your child's menu. We are also dealing with multiple food allergies - it is nice to hear when someone OUTGROWS one of them!
