what do You use unflavored gelatin for?

can i put it in cake? we used to make the hersheys best chocolate cake from the side of the cocoa box, bu it comes out crumbly when i try to dr it up. what if i put gelatin in it, and how much. my family was not impressed at all with wacky cake.

I use it to make an uncooked/eggfree diabetic friendly cheesecake, it is so good my niece is egg allergic and father diabetic it is very light and yummy
