I wanted to know what type of lip blam everyone uses and if you've had reactions to any particular brands?
I stick to plain old petroleum jelly.
I use L'Occitane Shea Butter on my lips - its made from the Shea Nut - but is apparently non-allergenic and I have never had a problem with it.
Sometimes I use blistex or chapstick original - never had a problem with either of them.
I am PA and TNA
I sometimes use Terressential's cocoa butter lip balms, but i don't live in an area where these are readily available. they also melt *super* easily. currently, i use Honeybee Gardens Tropical Lip Balm. it contains sweet almond oil, so it's not for TNA folks.
I also have a super-emollient balm made by a friend of mine. it contains honey, beeswax, synthetic vitamin e, safflower oil... i think we spiked this batch with a bit of clove oil for flavor. and we added glitter and purple pigment.
i'm allergic to soy and peanut (and papaya, along with other things) food-wise, along with aloe, lanolin, and chemical sunscreens, so most lip balms are off limits for me. i used to use SunDog, but i developed a reaction to hemp oil. i don't use petroleum products on my lips.
i do sometimes just use straight cocoa butter.
I am TNA/PA and I use Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer SPF 15 (it is sealed in a cardboard/plastic package). I have had anaphylaxis to almonds. Some companies I know to stay away from concerning their lip balms are: Dr. Hauschka (almond oil), Kiehls (almond oil), and Soft lips (macadamia nut oil).
My family uses BLISTEX Ultra Protection SPF 30 and my PA daughter has had no problem using it.
My son always uses Labello, but when I went to buy it this morning, I noticed it had Shea butter as an ingredient. Since my PA son has recently been diagnosed as also allergic to Nuts, I didn't buy it, trying to stay away from all nuts. Do many people out there who are allergic to Nuts use Shea butter products?
My second venture ever into this section of the board.
KateB., I just re-raised several threads about sheanuts (cross-reactive allergies page 2, lip stick, something to do with peanuts, I think about 3 or 4 threads).
It would appear from what has been posted in those threads, that because FAAN and Anaphylaxis Canada have never received a reported reaction to sheanuts, that it is not considered something we need to avoid even if avoiding tree nuts. So, you may have been able to buy that product this morning after all.
I use Blistex in the round container, very thick stuff. I know I'm not PA but I don't use anything that my PA son can't use and I do use it on both children as well.

I have personally used many lip balms and each and every product worked for me...But i have heard from my friend that she used a lip plumper or balm whatever no matter named city lips which doesn't worked for her at all...So next she tried maxolip and i was amazed with the results she got...I have also started using that same product..
