They couldn't get his asthma under control at the doctor's office, so he was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon and will probably be there until tomorrow. I keep trying to get someone to try to figure out what caused it but the general consensus seems to be we will never know. It's not an obvious allergic reaction, but I think it's a direct reaction to something. DH seems positive it's because of the smoke in the air from all of the forest fires in CA. I don't know...there isn't that much smoke. But maybe in conjunction with him being sick it was enough. I'm just very tired and worried right now. I keep thinking it's some sort of reaction to peanuts or eggs but no one else seems to think so.
Anyway, guess I'd better get back to the hospital.

Hope your son improves quickly. These things are so scary for us; I don't know how old your son is, but Kevin barely remembers anything about his trips to the hospital. I think he has my MIL's gift for blocking out unpleasant memories. Let's hope your son is similarly blessed.

Well, we are home and DS is doing much better and he's very happy to be home. The doctors were very good and the nurses were great with him, so I don't think he was traumatized by the experience at all except for one lousy blood draw.
They all said that this is just something we will probably have to deal with now and then with his asthma...just hopefully not too often. It was really frightening for all of us because his asthma has never been so bad before.
Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts...
Lori

Dear Lori,
You and your family are in my thoughts and my prayers right now. I can only imagine how difficult this is for you. I hope that your son will recover quickly and that you will be able to determine what is causing his asthma to flare up so horribly. Hugs, Miriam
