Hi everyone. I'm 23, and my 13 year old sister has an allergy to all nuts, but especially peanuts. She has had for almost 10 years, but it is progressivly getting worse. My family does everything possible to keep her away from nuts, but every couple of years a reaction happens and it is always life threatening. Every time she has a reaction her allergy worses as well. She had the skin prick test done again last Friday and her peanut welt measured 40/50 - the worst her doctor has ever seen on a patient.
My sister has gone through periods after reactions where she basically starves herself. She won't eat hardly anything, and she won't go play or see her friends. She comes home early from school in a panic. She had a reaction last month, and she seemed to be doing alright, until her doctor appointment last Friday. Now she's terrified of everything and is starving herself again. She won't leave my mother's side, she won't call her friends, and she's living in panic. I'm afraid she's going to destroy her health.
I don't know what I'm looking for here. Someone to talk to about it, and maybe some ideas on safe brands/restaurants/places. Anything to widen her horizons, as she's completely shut down at the moment. It took years to get her to be as comfortable as she was, and it all came crashing down.
Thanks for reading my novel.
