UNDECLARED MILK AND PEANUT PROTEINS IN HOUSE VERMONT CURRY M HOT CURRY POWDER
OTTAWA, May 2, 2003 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to milk and/or peanut proteins not to consume House Vermont Curry M Hot Curry Powder. This product may contain milk and/or peanut proteins that are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have an allergy to milk and/or peanut proteins.

The affected product, House Vermont Curry M Hot Curry Powder, a product of Japan, is sold in a 250 g package containing two individual sealed portions. The outer package bears the UPC 4 902402 113158 and a lot code 2004.7.25/B(SF).

The importer is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. This product is known to have been distributed in British Columbia but may have been distributed nationally.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk and/or peanut proteins. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the of the recall.
