of course, I would NOT want to take the business away from all the wonderful people who already have businesses that are peanut free, but for a while I have been wondering if there would be an interest in a peanut free (tree nuts too) bakery/candy store in the Chicago area?

I mean, I know it sounds like a silly question for this site, but I do wonder if there is enough interest to actually build one here!

There are no peanut free/tree nut free bakery in the Chicago area. There are some bakeries that have dairy free/gluten free baked goods but not nut free. I have been researching this for the past year. There are two peanut/tree nut free bakeries in Toronto, Canada. Why not here? The idea of having a peanut free/tree nut free along with candies that are safe is a great idea. It would be great to explore having a bakery that is also free of dairy products. Now that Rudi's Breads are no longer safe, we are left with no option for baked goods except to bake our own.

I live in the midwest (Iowa) and I would LOVE for there to be a closer resource for us, rather than needing to order from the east coast (not that I don't love Rebecca's Nut Free! mmmmmm)

I live in Michigan, but travel back to Wisconsin regularly. I would love something closer, and would make a stop in Chicago to get it.

I live in the Chicago 'burbs, and a peanut-free bakery sounds great; however, DS is also allergic to eggs. I bake all his cakes and cookies with egg-free recipes. As for bread, I just buy it at regular grocery stores as he's not allergic to wheat or dairy.

I live in Michigan and just about wet myself when I found a Peanut Free Bakery, so I imagine you will find someone in your area that would feel the same way.
