Brooklyn, NY - December 30, 2002 -- Trilini International Limited of 41 Terrace Place, Brooklyn, New York 11218 is recalling its 350g packages of chocolate sweets "LEBEDYNA VIRNIST" candies because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled candies were distributed in the New York City area in retail stores. The product comes in a blue cardboard box with barcode 4820026671451. Labeling is in Russian, English, Ukrainian and German.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered through routine sampling by N.Y.S. Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts.
Consumers who have purchased packages of chocolate sweets are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (718) 437-2700.
