My children have finished school for christmas, and I have just finished most of the shopping.
Here is a list of the past two weeks christmas parties that have involved me talking to party hosts, providing safe food and spending far too long explaining things to teachers!!
school christmas lunch ( school cook really works hard so that William can eat a safe meal at school once a year!)
school trip to pantomine, providing safe snack, (they now have plain ice cream, one year they had a mixture of bite sized chocolate bars..........some snickers , oooh, not nice at all!!!)
school christmas party. All parents informed that no food with nuts to come to school. As william is 7 , I had a brief word with teachers, and he is confident that he can pick safe food. ( he knows that most chocolate biscuits contain nut traces etc) The children are allowed to pick 4 foods , William picked out safe ones and was happy with this.
present from class teacher, small chocolate for tree. Hmmm not safe, william brings home and swops for kit kat. ( shame, but, well , thats life )
party for beavers, food safe, William could enjoy!!! ( lots of reading for me!)
church sunday school party again , was there to check food, only 2 foods contained nut traces, avoided egg sandwiches , William happy.
Now that school term has ended, now to start on the christmas food, going to BIL for dinner , and I am providing some food, and bringing some safe food for william.
I have found a nut free christmas pud, and some chocolate for the tree, and now must find time to get nut free christmas cake from Marks and spencer!!
All this extra work just so william can enjoy what all the other children take for granted.
I dont resent it , I am just plain exhausted!!!
happy christmas everyone!, and parents, give yourself a pat on the back , we work harder at this time of year than most parents I am sure!!!

I know what you mean! The calender was so full last week that I had to tape up an addendum. One night we had to be at three places. And at some point we needed to eat dinner.
All of the activities were for the children, which left a frazzled mother. My husband works late, 6 days a week, and he works outside, so when he comes home he's exhausted. When I asked him to come along to church for the tree lighting, and watch my daughter sing in the choir - let's just say he acted like a baby. I finally told him that HE did not have to make the shopping list, actually buy and wrap anything, bake one freaking batch of cookies, leave work early to attend his pa daughter's school party, NONE OF THIS. He storms out of the house and whips out of the driveway. This is a 43-year-old man.
He did come back and came with us. He did not go up for communion as he felt he didn't deserve it because he was acting like a jerk.
His real problem is with the lack of sunlight in the winter. He turns into a crab. So I poured myself a nice glass of wine and decided that I should have some of the cookies I made and apply them directly to my hips and to heck with it.
Ok, vent over. We are amazing women, aren't we?
beaver cubs as in scouts, have two elder boys in scouts , third in beavers ( for boys age 6) and daughter in rainbow guides, ( had to provide food for those parties as well!!)

I am with you! Not to mention the extra expense of my donating all of the safe candy for the Winter Carnival. While it meant extra money and work for me, I knew everything was OK for dd.
I hope that when I look back on these years, I feel that I did it for me as well as for her, if you know what I mean. Maybe these FA are sort of a backwards blessing as I have been way more involved with scouts, school, friends and all then I think I would have been w/o them.
Not being in the UK, I am wondering what is the "party for beavers"? Beavers the animal? This is a Christmas thing? Please enlighten me.
