Here's a response I just received from Tide:
We understand your concern, and we have some information to share with you about our P&G products and peanut derivatives. In addition to all of our fragrance-free laundry products, the following laundry detergents and fabric conditioners contain no peanut-derived ingredients.
Tide (all versions)
Gain (all versions)
Cheer (all versions)
Era (all versions)
Dreft (all versions)
Bounce (all versions)
Ivory (all versions)
Downy Care (all versions)
Downy Wrinkle Releaser (all versions)
Downy Enhancer Invigorating Burst
Of all our Downy versions, only Downy Enhancer Calming Mist contains trace amounts of peanut oil in the fragrance. This oil is present in the fragrance in minute amounts which is then further diluted during the wash so it should not represent any objective safety concern. However, we understand why you want to reduce all risks to your family. We're currently working with our perfume suppliers to eliminate peanut-derived ingredients from Downy Enhancer Calming Mist. We'll keep you updated, but it will be awhile since reformulating a perfume is not a quick process.
I hope this reassures you and helps you make the best decisions about the products you use in your homes.

I *still* want to know why P&G keeps the peanut oil in that one version of Downy a secret. I really don't care a whit about whether or not they're trying to reformulate the fragrance -- what I want is for them to simply warn me on the product's label that it contains trace amounts of peanut oil.
I will NEVER forgive P&G for exposing my PA son to peanut oil topically (and let's not forget that some young children do sometimes absent mindedly start chewing on their shirt sleeves, so it's also an ingestion of peanut oil) before I heard the rumor about the peanut oil in Downy and phoned them for confirmation.
It'll take years to reformulate -- a new label with a warning could have been on the product years ago.
I phoned P&G last year about this issue, explaining the importance of labeling. Explaining that people really *do* "drop dead" from peanut allergy. They offered me coupons for free P&G products. What I'd really like is a coupon for restored peace of mind. Fat chance of that, though.
