For those of you who have Friendship cream cheese in your area (I'm in upstate NY), thought I'd let you know that it is run on the same lines as their walnut flavor. I had so hoped Friendship might be a safe alternative for my PA son, since Philly cream cheese has the potential for cross-contamination with walnuts. I e-mailed the company and they told me they do run their plain cream cheese on the same line they run their walnut flavor. They didn't even bother to describe their cleaning process (which probably wouldn't have mattered anyway as it's not worth the risk in my opinion).

Since we're avoiding all nuts until Andre is at least 4, this is yet another item we'll have to check off our list of possibilities.

Just wanted to pass along the info.

Lenders makes a safe cream cheese. I find this mainly at Super WalMart. They do not have any nut flavors, and it goes great with their PN/TN free bagles!
Unfortunetly, they do not make the block cream cheese used for baking! I am still trying to find a safe cream cheese in that form. Kraft just makes me nervous, but it seems like they are the only ones who make it like that!!

We have been using Philadelphia Cream Cheese and never had a problem. We do live in New Jersey, and I don't know if Philadelphia Cream Cheese is available in many other areas. I will have to contact them.
