ALLERGY ALERT - UNDECLARED PEANUT AND MILK
PROTEINS IN SNACK BARS MADE BY SUNFRESH
ORGANICS

OTTAWA, April 26, 2003 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is
warning consumers with allergies to peanut and/or milk proteins not to
consume Sunfresh Organics snack bars identified below. These products
may contain peanut and/or milk proteins that are not declared on the label.
This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to peanut
and/or milk proteins.

All of the Sunfresh Organics snack bars, listed below, are affected by this
alert as they may contain undeclared peanut and/or milk proteins.

These products are known to have been distributed in Ontario, Alberta,
British Columbia and may have been distributed nationally.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening
reaction in persons with allergies to peanut and/or milk proteins. There have
been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these
products.

The CFIA is continuing with the investigation.

sensitivities to sulphites not to consume Sunfresh Organics snack bars
identified below. These products may contain peanut and/or milk proteins,
and/or sulphites that are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern
to those individuals who have allergies to peanut and/or milk proteins,
and/or sensitivities to sulphites. This alert is a follow-up to an earlier alert
issued on April 26, 2003 to include new products.

All of the Sunfresh Organics snack bars, listed below, are affected by this
alert.

The manufacturer, Sunfresh Organics, Mississauga, Ontario is voluntarily
recalling the affected products. These products are known to have been
distributed in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and may have been
distributed nationally.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening
reaction in persons with allergies to peanut and/or milk proteins, and/or
sensitivities to sulphites. There have been no reported illnesses associated
with the consumption of these products.

The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
