Someone sent me this link. Interesting point/counterpoint on the topic.

Note even the anti peanut ban Dr. feels very young children and daycare should probably ban peanut butter and it's products. This is the weakest area for FAN's position on no peanut ban. I think pressure should focus on this area as a "wedge issue" with FAN in any letters or emails. Getting them to support no peanuts in infant and toddler programs would be a first step.

Dr. Sicherer (the one opposing the peanut ban) is on the medical advisory board of FAN. He works with Dr. Sampson at Mt. Sinai in New York.

At the Renfrew County District School Board we only ban the allergin in the classroom the child is being taught in, regardless of the allergin. It still provides a safe environment for the student to learn in and makes people aware of the existing allergy. Nothing is taken for granted and everyone is always watching out for the existance of allergins. This includes daily lunch kit checks.

This does not give me the warm fuzzies - I am not fond of FAN - I am not saying that they don't provide a good service - I just don't think they help with the peanut allergy problem.
