I was wondering if anyone knows if sesame oil is safe for PA child. My pediatrician had mentioned not allowing him to ingest sesame seeds or sunflowers seeds, would this also include sesame oil and sunflower oil? I believe that Fritos now have listed either sesame or sunflower oil as ingredient. Sorry I don't have the bag in front of me, but this was one treat my son liked and I will be bummed if he can't eat it any longer. Any info would be appreciated.

It is my understanding that the sesame oil contains the protein that can cause an allergic reaction. Definitely avoid sesame oil if you are allergic to sesame seeds. I've heard of a few cases where children with PA also developed an allergy to sesame - but PA children can develop other food allergies like shellfish allergy as well. I don't think you need to avoid sesame if the child is over age 5 and has never had a reaction to it in the past. Of course, check further with your allergist for more information.

Thank you for your message, I think that I will just avoid the sesame oil/sesame seeds anyway, and will check with my sons allergist when I go in. I just hate when manufacturers change ingredients after having the same for so long. My allergist has always told me to keep my pa son away from any other kind of nuts even though he has not tested positive, because of cross contamination. So here we go again, we will look elsewhere for another snack.
Thanks again.
