Hi all,

I was wondering what salsa you use? I called Pace(Cambells) yesterday so to find out if its ok. They said they would list if peanuts were in the product but the Natural flavorings seemed questionable. They said the natural flavorings contained oils from spices and extracts. But the person on the phone said if it had peanut in the product they woulld list it. Being new to peanut allergys Im still leary.Dose anyone use Pace salsa and feel its ok to use for a PA. Or what other salsa brands do you feel comfortable with. Thankyou for the advice..

meleldredge, welcome!

I love Pace salsa. That's the brand that I prefer to buy for myself. What we usually buy is Tostitos brand, medium spiciness for the children to eat.

My PA son doesn't really indulge in salsa like his sister and his parents do. He'll dip a chip in and just have a little bit of salsa on it.

But, we've never had any problems with him with either Pace or Tostitos.

However, two big cautions - I'm Canadian, so not sure about where you are find, didn't check your profile, and also, I haven't called either company to see what they have to say about their natural flavourings and whether or not I would feel comfortable with their answer.

You might want to do a search on the board about Natural and Artificial Seasonings and Flavourings and see what you come up with in those threads, even if they are old, because I know it's something that we're all *supposed* to check, but to be quite honest with you, I have rarely checked Natural and/or Artificial Seasonings.

There is a *good* story, IMHO, here about how someone just used artificial almond flavouring to make cookies and how their child had a reaction.

Hope this helps a bit.

Best wishes!

Please check with them though, because, as I said, I've never called any salsa manufacturer to see if they're PA safe, assuming that it would be labeled if it wasn't. And your concern was with the natural and/or artificial flavourings/seasonings. I have NEVER called about those, or perhaps once, in dealing with PA for almost 7 years.

And my PA son, again, he only has a wee dip of it (although that would be enough if there was a problem).

Please call first to make sure this fits in your comfort zone.

I'm going to see if I can find any threads re flavourings/seasonings.

Best wishes!

We prefer the taste of Pace and have used this with no problems. We've also used Ortega Homestyle, Tostitos, Newmans and Taco Bell, all without incident.
