Hello,

Thank you for your e-mail. I am pleased to tell you that all four flavors
of our Rice Sembei Snacks are WHEAT AND GLUTEN FREE. In addition, they do
NOT contain peanuts or nuts, nor can either be found in our factory.

Furthermore, we have had our snacks tested at the University of Nebraska's
Food Allergy Research & Resource Program Lab (FARRP) and all four flavors
were tested negative for GLUTEN and PEANUT.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Jana Albert

Subject: allergen ingredient question please

Hello
I am helping design a school food program for children with food allergies.
can you please tell me if your products contain peanuts or nuts or if those
ingredients are present in the plant that manufactures your snacks. Most of
the children that require gluten free snacks also need to have peanut/nut
free products at our school.
Thank you for your response.

Thanks for the info. I grew up eating Japanese foods (my mom is Japanese, we lived in Japan) and I miss having sembei. I'm going to see if I can find this stuff around here.

so much for that-the closest is over 2 hours away. Too far to drive on $3.50 gas. I did find some where my parents live so I can see if they can get me some.

Gale,

The Masuya sembei isn't like the sembei that you grew up eating. It's texture is more like baby sembei (styrofoam-ish) rather than the crispy ones.

They're good, but are more rice cake like that traditional sembei.

That's ok-I'm going to try it anyway. I found it at a store near where my sister works. She's sending me a box this week anyway so she's going to get a bag of the sembei for me. My kids might prefer that texture rather than the hard crunchy texture. I haven't had it in so many years I've probably forgotten by now anyway. lol
