I've been searching for a recipe my husband said he saw for a soy sauce substitute someone posted a while back. Was it from AlwaysAvoidAnaphylaxis? I thought it was but am not sure. If someone has seen it or has a recipe, will you please reraise the thread or post the recipe.
Thanks M'smom.
I never would have found it! I thought it was hidden under the Snacks board. After I posted, my second thought was that it was from Corvallis mom.
I can't wait to try this since my husband likes to spice things up with soy sauce a lot.
I'm knew here could someone please help me. How do I find the info on the soy sauce. Thank you
It's under the Living with Peanut Allergy board. M'smom posted the thread name above.
momofmatt--

ryan's mom --
I just pulled it up for you -- it's under the "I'm so upset...my son had a reaction the other night" heading.
I've tried the recipe, and was pleased. I used powdered ginger (instead of gingerroot) and apple cider vinegar. I added quite a bit of salt, too, before I felt it hit the same strength as the bottled soy sauce I was comparing it to. By the time I was done, I actually liked the mock version better than the real thing!
I used it in a orange/garlic marinade for beef -- a make it up as you go sort of recipe that I *really* wish I'd written down, as it was extraordinarily good. (Not a compliment I give myself too often -- I'm a fairly accomplished cook, but I'm forever trying to figure out how to make things better the next time.)
Anyway -- enjoy. Many thanks to Shannon for coming up with the recipe!
