My son 3yrs ago had a skin prick test and tested postive for peanuts and egg. The allergist said to avoid peanuts but continue eating egg in things. Three years later he returned for another skin prick test, then a Rast test - here are his scores peanuts (10), eggs (9-1/2), tomato (7), corn (6.15), wheat(5.3), orange (4.69), soy (did not Rast test), and chicken(1.55). Allergist said he was high in all. Allergist said to avoid Corn, Egg, and Peanut at this time. My daughter tested 3.07 for peanut. Of course, he said to avoid peanuts. What do you think. Is it okay to eat these other foods? How high are his Rast scores? I tried to determine a ceiling from the allergist but I couldn't nail him down - he said he recently had someone score 110.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

those are high enough(class 2's and 3') thatI would avoid all on the list.My son Jake just tested positive to chicken again, it's just .87(class 2) but I plan to avoid for now. His sunflower was just .72(class 2 as well) but like with seeds, nuts and peanuts..any *positive* could possibly be anaphylaxic, I'm not taking a chance. His egg is 4.96 and that has caused anaphylaxis(peanut is 21...anaphylaxis)....so I guess in my opinion, according to your levels on the above listed foods....yes I would strictly avoid and retest in a year. My son is a 0.82 for peanut which we were told is moderate, but we are strictly avoiding. Peanuts were a regular thing in his diet before he had anaphalaxis one day.

I agree that avoidance is best when it comes to food you are allergic to.

Here's my take FWIW.

My ds is MFA to milk, egg, peanut. On the RAST, he tests positive to wheat and soy. He was already eating lots of wheat and lots of soy without any problems. My allergist and many others will tell you that reaction history should be considered along with test results. My ds continues to eat wheat and soy without any problems.

Has your dd previously eaten those other foods without issue? If so, then if my allergist supported it, I wouldn't necessarily eliminate the other foods. If they're not foods she eats often or won't miss then it's not such a big deal to eliminate.

Does she have any chronic allergy symptoms that you can't pinpoint the cause? If so, I'd eliminate the other foods for a few weeks, and then reintroduce 1 at a time with a week in between each food to see if any problems occur.

I feel for you, I know that uncomfortable feeling of trying to interpret test results and crossing more foods off your list. Hugs, you'll figure out the best approach. Meg
