Question about skin test results

I recently had to obtain a copy of dd's lab records to give to a new allergist. I had never seen a copy of her test results before and have a question about how to interpret them.

She has only been skin tested for peanut and these results are from 9-04. She will have a CAP RAST in July after she turns four.

Of all the things she was skin tested for, the only reactions were to egg and peanut. The egg she has outgrown as evidenced by a successful challenge (her immunocap for that was 1.69). First allergist didn't do the blood test for peanut because he said it wouldn't change the course of action at the time.

The skin test results were as follows:

egg white 6/25 (wheal/flare)
peanut 5/25 (wheal/flare)

I don't understand exactly what this means? I'm just unclear on the wheal to flare ratio. Any clarification is appreciated.

I'd be interested in this too, cause most of my environmental allergiy wheals were 5/25.

I think my peanut was something obnoxious like 40/60.

Hi Shannon -

I reraised a topic called "test results" that had some good links posted in it by Lori Ann that explain wheal and flare results.
