we normally just make the kids regular oatmeal....but with me not being able to step foot in the kitchen w/o hurling Im trying to find some quick and easy things for the kids to have. In the past they have had these w/out problem but I saw a commercial for Quaker supreme (I think thats the name) oatmeal that has pieces of walnuts in it (a BIG no for us!)...has anyone ever called to see if these are on the same line etc?
thanks

i had old ones in the cabinet so i called. i believe they said it could contain sesame in the flavoring. dont think nuts were an issue but i would call if i were you to be safe. good luck. let us know what they say. i dont like making the plain oats which i may start doing. they never come as yummy as the flavored ones even with tons of syrup, butter and cinnamon, oh well!!

We have never called but have used the peaches and cream and strawberry and cream without incident for over a year.

tidina, was sesame listed as a may contain on the package? I have trusted Quaker labeling, and sesame is one of my allergens.

they told me that sesame could be in the flavoring and didnt have to be listed.

Are you in the US? Here in Canada, if peanut or sesame seed are actually an added ingredient it must be listed on the label. There are no laws regarding *may contain* warnings. It cannot be hidden in words like flavour.

I think I'll have to call Quaker Canada again - been a while since I spoke with them, but I want to double check their labelling practices.

Perhaps you could take the plain, measure it out, and put it in sandwich baggies?

I just buy the plain instant and old-fashioned in the big canisters. I won't touch the packets with the flavors, but that's simply a comfort zone issue for us.

ugh! Why does every company have to introduce a nut variety of everything. What worries me is that the apple cinnamon, which contains no nuts, has no 'shared equipment' warning. However, I have seen plenty of 'may contain' warnings on quaker products (just not the oatmeal products) so I believe they do label for shared lines. My kids don't eat the flavored oatmeal anyway (my dd eats the plain with some brown sugar and I'm keeping it that way. lol) but I do buy it for myself.

There's a recipe somewhere for homemade. you put quaker oats in the blender and blend them until they're fine, then add flavorings. I'll see if I can find it.

here are a couple. The first link has a lot of variations. I might make these for myself when my stash runs out-it's a lot cheaper I'm sure, and I mainly like the brown sugar flavor anyway.

My son eats the flavored packets every morning. I buy both USA & Canada products.
We like the maple & brown sugar, apple & cinn., Dino eggs, berry something, peaches & cream etc...

He has almost lived off of these for 3 1/2 years now.

No problems here
