My daughter's preschool has several parties during the school year. The first is the Halloween party next week. The director is trying to keep the parties low-key as apparently they had been getting out of hand. I am in agreement with 'low-key'.
They are asking for 2 parents to help with each party -- one to bring the drinks, the other to bake cupcakes.
I have requested to be the only one to bake cupcakes for all the parties, that way I do not have to worry about making a safe cupcake for Jessica. The teacher is ok with this, but she must speak to the director first. The director does not want any snacks in addition to the cupcakes. Nor does she want any decorations in the classroom. So if I bake all the cupcakes, 1/2 the parents will not be able to participate.
Does anyone have any ideas of how other parents can participate? I thought perhaps they can buy holiday-themed plates & napkins or something. Any suggestions will be appreciated. The teacher will be speaking to the director tomorrow and I will probably end up speaking to the director as well.

At our preschool we have someone sign up to read a book and/or do an activity (i.e. pin the nose on the pumpkin). We also have different people bring plates, napkins, and table clothes. Of course, my preschool does not do 'low key' at all so the kids get goodie bags(grrrrhh) which thankfully they give to the parents not the kids and I have chunk most of the candy, but he does keep the toys.
Hope this helps.
