While having breakfast my daughter and her husband today, we were talking about food sniffing dogs in airports who detect foods being smuggled illegally in or out of a country.
My son-in-Law suggested that it might work to have peanut sniffing dogs. He and his wife do beagle rescue (for old abandoned beagles or those who are forced to part with their owners for some reason). He said beagles are used a lot for airport work because they are friendly non-threatening animals with a super sense of smell. He also pointed out that service dogs must be allowed on airplanes to comply with the ADA.
Any thoughts? It wouldn't do for me since I am allergic to animal danders, but it sounds like an interesting concept.
