My son 5 year old Vikas went to cinema from school. Part of the cinema deal was Icecream to every kid. Teachers gave Icecream with peanuts topping to my son and in the dark cinema hall my son could not recognise it properly and ate it. He had reaction immediatly and no one was aware of it as he was sitting amongst the other kids. After an hour he could not tolerate any more he went running outside the cinema and started vomiting. At that time teachers saw him, paniced and called for Ambulance. It was a horrible seen for us to look at him at the hospital as he was swolen up completely.Thank god he was saved from hospital staff. This thing happened even after we being so careful instructing school and all the palces he goes to about his allergy. We are so disappointed with the school and hope this thing never happens again.

I am so sorry for your experience you were very lucky. My son would have only lasted several minutes, his PA is class 5. Thank heaven for hospital staff.
My opinion is that you should bring this to the schools attention. I do not mean the teacher they are aware of what they did. I mean the principal or even better the school board.
This is not a matter that should be taken lightly. They can apologize about their unfortunate mistake but they could not give you your childs life back, if this had proven fatal.

Vikas"s Dad,
Holy Mackerel! I just can't believe after the school knowing about his allergy this happened.
You just can't trust anyone. I believe this totally and try to teach my 4 year old son, not to eat anything from anyone if were not there or his teacher ok's it first before he eats it.
Thanks for sharing this story and I hope this is the last time anything like this happens!

Vikas's Dad,

First of all, I am so sorry that you son had a reaction. I too am glad that the hospital was able to help and know that he is much better now.

Second I would talk to your son's allergist and have him prescribe an epi-pen for you son to have with him in case there was ever a need for it again.

My son has an epi-pak that has to go with him everywhere in the school. It contains his epi-pen, instructions on what to do, benadryl and a medicine dropper, soap for his hands because he is touch sensitive to so many things, and a wash cloth for a cold compress because he has ezcema. The word peanut in 12 different languages and what to watch out for. We have an epi-pen in his classroom, the nurses office, the main office and in his epi-pak.

If you call Dey Labs they will send you epi pen trainers (for free) and pamphlets on anaphylatic shock. the phone number is 1-800-755-5560. Every teacher and staff member in our school is trained on the epi-pen.

You need to tell Vikas that if he ever feels different from normal (possible reaction) that he needs to tell everyone even if he is not sure if it was from peanuts.

Best wishes,

Renee

Hi Vikas Dad,
I was taught from a very early (Toddler) never eat anything!!! without asking who it came from where it came from and what was in it. That includes people in my own family. Children have to be able to speak up If a parent is not there for help. Its hard it stinks but its better to pass and be OK. Then get sick.
