We will travel to Paris over Christmas with our 4-year-old PA son. It will be his 4th trip there with no previous problems, but, I'm sorry to say we weren't as educated on the subject before now (other than carrying Epi-pens and Benadryl). I just wondered if anyone has any tips: 1)for dealing with TWA and 2)translation in French for peanuts/peanut oil. He loves steak and "pommes frites" plus we carry a lot of his snacks. Any advice will be appreciated.
Hello,
My personal comfort level does not permit to allow my 7 year old PA son to eat up to 1 hour before flight and certainly not on a flight. I know the flight to Paris will be at least six hours but if you book a later flight so he will sleep and not want to snack that would be my way to go. Everyone has their own comfort level and if you feel comfortable feeding your four year old "safer" snacks that is your right. I just feel nervous flying anyway and if there are other passengers eating peanuts around and God- forbid your child begins showing signs how would you rule out if it may be because of the "safer" snack (nothing is ever 100% safe) or the peanut dust circulating in the aircraft. We flew Air Canada to Heathrow without incident this past summer. There current policy is the do not serve peanut/ peanut products on any of their flights BUT they can not guarentee other passengers would not bring any to consume. Try to sit as close to the front of the aircraft as the ventilation systems generally filter the air to the back of the aircraft and out.( the less passengers in front= the less chance of peanut bags being opened and filtering back at you.) I don't want to put a downer on your vacation plans just want to express my concern. Have a safe holiday!
Here's a list of French terms [with my rendition of their English pronunciations - apologies to any phonetic experts out there]:
arachide ["ARA-SHID"]=(peanut)
huile d'arachide ["WHIL DARA-SHID"]=(peanut oil)
cacahouette ["KA-KA-WET"]=(peanut/jargon)
