I am so excited about this. I just found this recipe in my grandmas old stuff. It was a newspaper clipping dated 1985 with a recipe for Poor Man's Oatmeal Pie for those who as the paper stated "love pecan pie but are allergic to nuts"? Anyway, I tried it tonight and it was good, not pecan pie good, but good none the less. So to all of those that may miss that taste here is the recipe.
Poor Man's Oatmeal Pie
2 eggs
2/3 cup melter butter
2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup white syrup
2/3 cup uncooked oatmeal
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix all ingredents together. Pour into unbaked 9 inch pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for about one hour. Top will be firm when done.
