I got my sons medic alert bracelet yesterday and Im not happy with it. Its WAY too big and I told them he was 18 months and measured 6 inches around the wrist. This is WAY more than that!
Also, it looks cheapy. He has a bracelet I got on ebay and it looks better than the one we got, but needed a new one, as he has a new food allergy to add with peanuts.
Do you like your medic alert???
We had one problem with ours, the clasp wasn't staying shut. I called Medic Alert and they fixed it, no charge. Otherwise, we're happy with it (well as happy as you can be with needing one...). I think my ds measured a 5 too.
We use them for 2 reasons: I think they're the most "recognized" by EMT's and people in general, and also because anyone can call to access treatment/medical info 24 hours a day.

We had the jewler put a new chain on it so it would be a little prettier for my daughter.

Did you measure properly. My 7 year old's wrist is 5 inches around? Just curious. I have had some issues with the bracelet. The words on the emblem were wearing off and they were going to make me pay for a new one. I fought it and won. The bracelet broke, my fault so I payed that no problem but refused to pay for emblem.
I would just email/call them and explain the problem. They may help.
