My friend told me about this new ride. It has "sensory" elements, including smell:

She emailed them for more information; hasn't heard back yet. This ride opens next week.
GROSS!
So this means, from the sounds of it, kids are getting samples at the ride as well? Ugh. We were just talking about possible checking out Sesame Place and Hershey this summer. Something different, but that ride scares me away from Hershey. becca
So sad. We only live an hour or so from Hershey and I would love to take my kids!!! Definitely let us know what they say.

Yuck! Who wants to smell PB while on a rollercoaster-type ride? And they spent $5.1 million on this ride? What a waste of money! I could think of better things to do with that kind of money!
Ooooh, but do you get to laser zap peanut butter??

I just emailed them. I will post a reply if I get one.
Please post the reply! I definitely don't get the point of this. Ugh...

Here's the reply she got, and there is an MSDS sheet, but the formula is "proprietary." The MSDS sheet is in pdf format, so I can't post it here, but it doesn't really tell us anything. When we were there, we could smell the chocolate scent being piped in all over the place. He says that this is a chemical formula that has no peanut components.
Thank you for contacting us with your questions on the Reeses Xtreme Cup Challenge ride. I appreciate your positive comments on our park cleanliness and friendly staff. I can certainly understand your concerns with the possibility of peanut scents on one of our attractions.
Anaphylactic reactions can be quite frightening. We are currently in the
process of constructing the ride so we don't have a full appreciation of all the operating nuances of the ride yet. But, I can tell you that there will be a simulated scent of peanut butter somewhere within the
attraction.
We do have pertinent MSDS info on the scents used in the new ride on file, and according to the MSDS, the manufacturer and our analysis - there is no real peanut extract or component in the simulated peanut smell.
I would be glad to provide you a copy of the MSDS sheets if it would help you gain a
greater comfort level.
Again I would like to thank you for contacting us with your questions. Please feel free to contact me directly at (717) 534-3334 or e-mail mbrace@hersheypa.com if you have any other questions or concerns.
